Five steps for safe use of centrifuge

1、 Correct device


1. Power supply voltage: the voltage fluctuation should meet the national standard within + 10%, otherwise the centrifuges of some manufacturers cannot work normally. If the voltage fluctuates above this, it is recommended to use a voltage regulator to fit the power grid.


2. The ground wire shall be firm: the wiring of the power supply in the room shall meet the requirements. China is a three-phase four wire system. Three phases are the three phases of industrial electricity. When using three-phase electricity, the zero line is separated from the ground wire. More importantly, whether it is three-phase industrial electricity or general single-phase electricity, the ground wire should be reliable to avoid leakage, and the ground wire cannot be connected to the heating pipe and water pipe.


3. The ground should be flat and firm: for large centrifuges, the moving floor at the device location should be firm to ensure that the rotor of the centrifuge works normally and does not sink in. The ground at the fixed place of the device should be flat and firm.


4. Leveling: find a more accurate small level ruler, open the cover of the centrifuge, level on the main shaft, adjust the rotation of the adjusting bolts around the four casters to find the level, and note that one foot cannot fall in between.


2、 Sample loading and balancing


During the planning and manufacturing of centrifuge, the imbalance caused by the machining error of rotor has been remedied by dynamic balance test, but all centrifuges have their allowable sample loading imbalance. In order to compete with other manufacturers in the index of maximum allowable unbalance limit of centrifuge, centrifuge manufacturers try to give a larger value. At this large value, the centrifuge can work, but the unbalanced force suddenly strikes the bearing and support at the frequency of N times per minute, and the centrifuge is damaged. Therefore, for those valuable centrifuges, users should try to find a good balance before centrifuging, which is good for the service life of the centrifuge.


3、 Clean up the accumulated water in the centrifugal cavity


When the centrifuge works, refrigeration is used. Because of the moisture of the air, frost forms in the centrifugal chamber. After shutdown, the frost turns into water. Most foreign low-speed and high-capacity centrifuges have no drainage holes, and more water accumulates in the centrifugal chamber. At this time, the user should remove the rotor and sort out the accumulated water. When re installing the rotor, it must be installed to avoid accidents.


4、 Aluminum alloy shall not be corroded


Centrifuge rotors are generally made of aluminum alloy. When corroded, the strength decreases, which is easy to cause an accident. Aluminum alloy is easy to be corroded by liquid. After cleaning, use a hair dryer to dry it, or turn it upside down for a period of time. It can be used only after it is confirmed to be dry. Some blood stations import centrifuges, and there are no 6 plastic holders in the 6 aluminum cups. Bleeding bags should be placed in the plastic holder to avoid being placed directly in the aluminum cup. Pay attention to whether the test tube has cracks. If the test tube (especially the repeatedly used test tube) has cracks, it must not be used, otherwise the test tube rupture in use will cause the rotor to lose balance during rotation, which can lead to malignant events such as shaft breakage.


5、 Broken shaft accident


The rotor is not placed properly, or the unbalance exceeding amount of the sample is too large, and the centrifuge starts. Although modern imported centrifuges have imbalance maintenance, that is, when the imbalance exceeds a certain limit, they should take the initiative to cut off the power and stop the centrifuge. However, under the above circumstances, it is now too late and a vicious incident will appear. When the centrifuge rotates at high speed, one of the supporting shafts of the centrifuge is suddenly broken because the centrifuge shaft rotates disorderly at 270 °. At this time, if there are people or equipment around, it will cause casualties and damage to equipment.
